"If you had a chance to help someone get ahead during this COVID pandemic would you do it?".

My name’s Louis Trahan. I’m the founder of LastMinuteTraining.ca and I recently asked my team that very question - and the answer was a resounding yes.

In a couple of minutes, I’m going to ask you to help us do that.

But before I do, I want to tell you a quick story.

On March 23rd our team got together for the same daily virtual “what are we going to do” meeting that we’ve had every day since we decided to enact social distancing measures and work from home. We’d all heard or watched the depressing news that day - as we had for the last couple of weeks and it showed on our faces. We were tired - tired of all the doom and gloom. So we made a decision.

That decision was to stop obsessing about cash flow, runway and revenues. Instead we decided to focus on trying to do something to help.

Our conversation centered around training - since it’s our industry - and in particular, virtual training. A lot of our training vendors were advertising virtual training courses - we had over 3000 of them in our marketplace - and how this was a great option for training while working from home.

But we realized that, for many people, it’s not such a great option. Taking a six hour long training session when you are sharing your space with your family isn’t ideal. And forking out thousands of dollars for training just doesn't work if you are unemployed or worried about your business surviving.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way to make it easy for anyone who wants to attend training to take it - even for free.

Its true that many of you are utilizing eLearning, and that’s a fantastic option. But we felt we could be best help by providing a live option to students, just delivered virtually. Not all learners take to self-paced learning, for them our program would fill a real need. And besides, we’re all isolated enough right now, it would be so much nicer to have a human touch.

And so we came up with a plan - we launched PayWhatYouCan.Training - a learning hub that borrows from the ‘Pay What You Can’ model. That model has been used in different industries during tough times. And never has there been a better time to apply it to the learning industry than right now.

PayWhatYouCan.Training is going to allow people and businesses to access the training they need, at a price they can afford. Even if that is FREE.

We have over 50 instructors, who on average have been training for 20+ years.  They are delivering skill-based workshops in a virtual classroom. This is helpful for your team members, who like to ask questions and get more context from an expert they can interact with.

The program is easy - instructors create, upload and schedule short courses that they can teach virtually. People looking for training find and register for courses on the portal. Our team does everything else.

We’ve set an audacious goal of teaching 100,000 people by July 31st.

We need your help.

So let me ask you, will you help us? Keep reading to see how.

THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO HELP

#1 - JUST USE OUR SERVICE

We get it, budgets have been slashed, revenue is down, some of the workforce has been terminated. So why not let you team know that they can access training for free?

Let them use this time to improve some of their skills. Our trainers are happy to have them attend - with or without contributions. Our goal is to help as many people as possible so something as simple as promoting PayWhatYouCan.Training is a huge benefit to us and we’d really appreciate it.

#2 - GET A CUSTOM LEARNING HUB

How about your own corporate learning hub? Is your budget slashed, but not gone? Are there marketing dollars not being spent that can be allocated to training? Maybe your corporate giving department is looking for a worthwhile project to support?

A corporate learning hub gives you a branded launch page to send your team to. It also removes the option to contribute to the program during the course registration process.

It’s a great way to keep workplace learning happening without a huge spend.

Get in touch with us to find out how to get your own corporate learning hub.
